Day 3 Bible Reading: Hebrews 13:1-3
Welcome!
Once on holiday, our family visited a famous sports ground. The gates were wide open, so we looked around the grounds, training rooms and trophy cabinets. Suddenly someone stopped us and coldly told us we were not supposed to be there. We felt like outsiders! It was really uncomfortable—and we left quickly!
While on holiday we also visited a church. Again, the doors were open, so we walked in. What a difference! Many people said hi and made us feel right at home. We walked out of that church service feeling like we’d been welcomed in.
Sadly, when many new people visit churches, they often feel like outsiders. It’s as if the church people say: “You’re not supposed to be here.” But the Bible tells us to be welcoming and kind to everyone.
In Hebrews we are reminded to “show hospitality to strangers” (13:2). And among Christians we are to love each other as family members (GAL. 6:10). When we welcome all people openly with the love of Jesus, we live out His ways.

To Pray About . . .
Lord, teach me to show hospitality to newcomers in my church and friends who come to me.
