Week 10: When I Don’t Want to Say Anything

Day 5 Bible Reading: Colossians 1:13-23

Unlocked

Once you were alienated from God . . . But now he has reconciled you (VV.21-22).

A boy born with cerebral palsy was unable to speak or communicate. But his mum never gave up. When he was 10, she figured out how to communicate with him through his eyes and a letter board.

After this breakthrough, she said, “He was unlocked and we could ask him anything.” Now Jon reads and writes by communicating through his eyes. When asked what it’s like to ‘talk’ with family and friends, he said, “It’s great to tell them I love them.”

Jon’s story is very moving and makes me think about how God unlocks us from the prison of sin. As Paul wrote to the Christians at Colossae, once we were “alienated from God” (COL. 1:21), but through Christ’s death we are now “holy in his sight” (V.22).

We may now “live a life worthy of the Lord” as we follow Jesus, get to know God better and rely on His power (VV.10-11). Now, we can use our unlocked voices to share His good news and walk confidently in our new life.

JESUS UNLOCKS US FROM OUR PRISON OF SIN, SO LET'S UNLOCK OUR VOICE TO PRAISE HIM.
