Day 1 Bible Reading: Philippians 2:1-11
Holding On
I remember going on a big rollercoaster in a theme park with my friends. I was so scared that after it ended, my hands were white from gripping the handrail so tightly. A friend had to help me peel them off and rub feeling back into them!
That rollercoaster ride reminds me of what it can be like to hold on to something in our lives too tightly. We all have things we ‘cling’ to. Like our dreams, our friends, our school trophies, our boyfriend or girlfriend.
I’m thankful for the example of Jesus who didn’t keep a white-knuckled grip on His rightful place in heaven. Being fully God, He came to earth as a humble servant to rescue us and make us part of God’s family again (PHIL. 2:6,8).
When we are holding too tightly to anything that isn’t Him, we can follow His example and let go. When He comes first in our lives, we will find we have everything we need.

To Pray About . . .
Lord Jesus, teach me to fully hold on to You and let go of the things I idolise
