Day 5 Bible Reading: Psalm 70
The Waiting Place
So much of life is about waiting, but God is never in a hurry—or so it seems. Waiting is hard. We flick through messages on our phones, tap our feet, hold back yawns, sigh and get more and more stressed.
Why do I have to deal with that person at school, that exam, that family problem, that illness? Why doesn’t God turn up and make it better? God’s answer: “Wait and see what I will do.”
Waiting is one of life’s best teachers. While we wait we learn the importance of . . . well, waiting. It’s in waiting that we grow in endurance, which means being able to trust God’s love and goodness, even when things aren’t going our way (PS. 70:5).
But waiting should not be boring, anxious or full of doubt. We can “rejoice and be glad in [Him]” while we wait (V.4). We wait in confidence, knowing that God will step in and give us what we need at just the right time. God is never in a hurry, but He’s always on time.
