Week 1: When I Wonder Who I Really Am

Day 4 Bible Reading: Roman 5:6-11

I’m His Child

God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (V.8).

One church leader was asked, “Why did Jesus choose Judas to be one of His closest friends?” He thought about the question but could not come up with an answer. He said that he kept running into an even bigger question: “Why did He choose me?”

That’s a question that has been asked by just about every Christian. I have also asked, “Why me?” I know my dark side, and some of the bad things I have done in the past. I also know the things I still struggle with today.

And yet God loved me enough to send His Son to die in my place! (ROM. 5:8). I didn’t deserve His rescue. I was helpless. Yet He opened His arms to me. It’s like He said: “I love you even more than you loved your sin.”

God loved me enough to forgive me, set me free and give me a new life with Him as His child. “Why me?” It’s not something I can even begin to answer. But I know He loves me—and He loves you too!
