Day 2 Bible Reading: Hebrews 11:1-6
Faith So Real
When I was in my teens, I sometimes wondered if my faith in Jesus was real. I had decided to trust in Jesus, but friends’ comments and the world’s suffering made me doubt it all. In my uncertainty, I kept on ‘recommitting’ to Jesus, but was never sure if I really belonged to God or not.
I hear many Christians say they don’t really get what faith is. They think the description in Hebrews 11:1 means total certainty—which is something they don’t always have.
But the verse explains what faith is and what it does. It talks about confidence growing as we continue to trust Jesus and the Bible. As we do, we become certain of the reality of God and the place in heaven that awaits us.
If you want to see what faith looks like, why not talk to some older people in your church, who have trusted God throughout their lives even in the disappointments and pains. They will tell you that Jesus has become so real and important to them that they are absolutely sure of Him and the truth of His promises.
Don’t let times of doubt throw you off course. Keep trusting and following Jesus and the Bible. As you do, your confidence will grow.
