Day 5 Bible Reading: Ephesians 1:15-23
What’s Really Important?
So much of what we pray for has to do with what we see around us. We talk to God about school problems, things we want to change, wanting to make new friends and all sorts of things like that. And that’s all good. We should pray about those things.
But when Paul talked to God about the Christians in Ephesus, he didn’t go over all their day-to-day needs. Instead, he asked that they see God’s truth more clearly (1:18). He asked God to give them understanding about their life with Jesus: the hope they have in Him, the good things He had promised and God’s power working in them (VV.18-20).
These unseen things are a big deal because the better we understand them, the better we’ll see this world and our problems for what they really are. Understanding the certainty of our place in heaven, and everything we have because we belong to Jesus, will give us a healthy perspective on everything we go through.
It’ll also stop us being too distracted by the stuff around us, like what people think of us, how many likes we’re getting online or what clothes we can afford. So let’s ask God to help us focus on what’s really important: everything God has done and given us in Jesus!

To Pray About . . .
Lord Jesus, as I follow You, teach me to see what's truly important. Help me live a life rooted in You, filled with hope and good things You promised in the Bible.
