Day 5 Bible Reading: Revelation 3:14-22
Open The Door
I recently saw a painting inspired by Revelation 3:20: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in.”
The really interesting thing about the painting was the door. It didn’t have a handle on the outside, where Jesus was standing. It could only be opened from the inside.
That painting helped me to understand John’s words in Revelation, and the kindness of Jesus. He gently knocks on the door of our lives with His offer of peace. Jesus stands and patiently waits for us to answer.
He does not open the door Himself and burst into our lives. He does not force His ways on us. Instead, He offers Himself to all people. He offers total forgiveness and a new life where He lives in us, guiding us and changing us from the inside out.
If we open the door of our lives, He promises to come in. There are no other things we have to do. We just have to open the door. If you haven’t let Jesus into your life yet, maybe you know He is knocking? What’s stopping you from opening the door and letting Him in?

To Pray About . . .
Jesus, I often feel like I want to shy away. But, please, I pray that You will help me to know that I'm forgiven and loved. I want to let You into my life.
