Day 4 Bible Reading: Luke 6:27-36
Doing Good
Have you heard the saying, “The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway”? I like it; it’s a great reminder. In the book of Acts, Luke summed up Jesus’ time on earth by saying that He “went around doing good” (10:38).
What does the Bible mean when it tells us to “do good”? Jesus did good by teaching, healing, feeding and comforting people. Using Jesus as our perfect example, we should be looking to meet the needs of others.
Even including those who might bully us or make jokes because we’re following Jesus. “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (MATT. 5:44). We are to do good for our “enemies” without expecting anything in return.
Also it’s very important that we do good to other Christians (GAL. 6:10). We are not to let problems, selfishness or busyness make us forget to spend time with our church family and encourage them (HEB. 13:16).
To be like Jesus, we should ask ourselves each day: “What good thing can I do today to make His love known to someone?” When we do good like this, we will be pleasing God and bringing others closer to Him (MATT. 5:16).

To Pray About . . .
Father, I look to You for strength. Teach me how to love those I feel uncomfortable with, or even people who dislike me.
