Day 5 Bible Reading: Psalm 16:5-11
God Fills Us
Have you ever had to move far away from home? Or go on a long school trip without your friends or family around you? When family and friends aren’t close, we can feel very lonely. I had to move to a different city when I left school. I had a tiny flat. No furniture. I didn’t know the area. I didn’t know anyone. The job I got was interesting, but the loneliness felt crushing.
One night I sat at home with my back against the wall. I opened my Bible and stumbled on to Psalm 16, where verse 11 promises God will fill us. “Father,” I prayed, “I thought this job was the right thing, but I feel so alone. Please fill me with a sense of Your closeness.” I prayed like that for many weeks. Some nights, my sense of loneliness faded, and I knew God was near. Other nights, I still felt cut off.
But as I returned to that verse, thinking about it night after night, God helped me to trust Him more and more. I experienced His faithfulness in a way I never had before. And I learned that all I needed to do was simply tell Him how I felt, lean on Him through the difficulty and quietly wait for His answer.

To Pray About . . .
Father, we can feel so lonely and empty at times. But we know You want us to trust You. Help us to cling to Your promise to fill us and calm us when we feel hopeless.
