Day 2 Bible Reading: John 16:5-16
The Loner
I knew someone at school who became a loner. He never spoke in class, always ate his lunch on his own and never took part in any after-school clubs. He had as little to do with other people as possible. After we left school, he just seemed to disappear.
As a result he never got stood up, he never had to look out for his friends and he never had to go through the nerves of a first date. But at what cost?! He also missed out on all the good stuff that comes from spending time with other people.
God created us in His image—and He is not a loner! In John 1:1 we read that before time began “the Word”, who later “became flesh and made his dwelling among us” as Jesus (V.14), was “with God”.
John is talking about the Trinity—God as the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. God didn’t make us so He’d have some company; as three persons, He has never been alone! Although God doesn’t need us, in love He chose to create us to be His friends.
Let’s praise our God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—for saving us. Through faith in Jesus, God forgives us and brings us into His worldwide family, saving us from being loners.

To Pray About . . .
Lord, You know that I long for companionship. Thank You for being my Friend. Help me to approach those who need companionship too, and share Your love to them.
