Day 5 Bible Reading: Hebrews 11:1-16
Secure Harness
As a youth leader, I organised a trip to an obstacle course to climb a wall. One of the teenagers froze as we tightened the belts and buckles around her waist. “There’s no way I can do this,” she said. Reminding her of the security of her harness, we quickly prayed and then shouted our support as she climbed to the top.
When facing problems that seem too big to handle, worry and stress can fill our minds with doubts. But the certainty of God’s unchanging strength, goodness and love creates a strong harness of trust.
This confidence helped many Bible characters keep going during tough times. They lived out a trust which meant they no longer needed to know every detail of God’s plan, or how things were going to work out. They just needed to know Him (HEB. 11:1-5).
Focusing only on our problems at school or the choices we have to make with our friends can stop us from trusting God. But knowing He’s with us, we can rest in the harness of His love and faithfulness.
