Day 3 Bible Reading: Psalm 16
Sleepless Nights
The psalmist David had his dark, lonely nights when everything seemed out of control. He tossed and turned just as we do, but then he turned to his Shepherd (PS. 23:1) and reminded himself that God was with him. That brought peace in the middle of his stress. David said, “With him at my right hand, I shall not be shaken” (16:8).
We too can have sleepless nights when our worries take up all our head space. We want to sleep, but we just can’t turn our minds off! Sometimes at night, when there are no distractions, we might hear God’s voice as we talk to Him about our worries. We can put our problems on Him and think about His promises to us in the Bible.
We can talk to God about every single thing, passing our stress to Him (1 PET. 5:7). We can talk about our mistakes, our fights, our school problems, our anxieties, our anger—and listen to what He has to say. That’s what sets us apart from people who don’t know God. That’s the secret of real rest.

To Pray About . . .
Lord, I'll look for You in the morning when I wake up and submit my day to You. I'll look for You in the night when I feel overwhelmed. In You I have peace, therefore I can sleep soundly.
