Day 3 Bible Reading: Isaiah 33:17-22
Moments Of Vision
Amy Carmichael (1867–1951) is known for how she rescued orphaned girls in India and gave them a new life. In the middle of this tiring work there were times she called “moments of vision”. They were times when, even though she had loads to do, she found herself able to look ahead to the day she would be with Jesus.
Isaiah spoke of a time when God’s people, who had forgotten Him, would turn back to their God. “Your eyes will see the king in his beauty and view a land that stretches afar” (ISA. 33:17). To see this “land that stretches afar” is to be lifted above today’s problems and instead focus on the promise of being with Jesus in heaven.
During our worst days, our time spent with God and reading the Bible will remind us of all His promises. We’ll be able to see our lives from His viewpoint. “For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is he who will save us” (V.22).
Each day, we can choose to get bogged down in what’s going on around us or focus on God who is “our Mighty One” (V.21) and trust these things to Him.
Amy Carmichael spent more than fifty years in India helping girls in great need. How did she do it? Each day she fixed her eyes on Jesus and trusted in His care. And so can we.

To Pray About . . .
Father, today we choose to focus on You, rather than on what we’re going through. We know that You are always with us.
