Make a Comeback
If we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. We can trust God. He does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrongs we have done. - 1 John 1:9 ICB
In the early part of this century, there was a quarterback in the NFL named Chad Pennington. He was an amazing player, but he kept getting hurt. Twice his injuries forced him to go through surgery and tough therapy to get back on the field. But he didn’t just play again; he was twice named the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year. Chad Pennington was one determined guy—and he’s a Christian!
Sometimes as Christians, we get sidelined. Maybe we did something wrong, and it cut off our relationship with Jesus. We just don’t feel good about Jesus because we have hurt our connection to Him.
When that happens, we don’t need surgery like Chad did. We need to confess! We need to tell God that we know we messed up. Here’s how the Bible puts it: “If we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. We can trust God. He does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrongs we have done” (1 John 1:9 ICB).
Jesus gives us hope. We can make a comeback! When we tell Jesus what we did wrong, we know He’ll forgive us. That’s the greatest comeback of all!
