Week 88 Bible Reading: John 15:7–14
Spaceship Prayer
Five-year-old Noah wanted a Lego space rocket for Christmas. While he was shopping with Mom, Noah found the exact one he wanted. A shiny silver spaceship, complete with one hundred Lego pieces. “Mommy, I want this one. Pleeeease!” he begged and whined. Mom said, “We’ll see,” and took him home.
Sure enough, among the presents he opened on Christmas morning was the little space rocket. Noah was excited—until his older brother said, “You were silly to push for that one. Mom already bought you a much bigger space rocket—with three hundred Lego pieces—but when you begged for that littler one, she swapped it out!”
Noah’s Lego spaceship looked less exciting.
Sometimes we’re like that with God. We pray about a specific need and tell God exactly how He should answer. We beg and plead— and God may even give us what we ask for. But He may have had something bigger and better in mind.
So pray for God’s plans for your life. Make room for God’s big and beautiful ideas too. He could surprise you with something more amazing than what you would have asked for.
Jesus, You usually have better plans for me than I do for myself. Help me pray big prayers and make room in my heart for Your bigger and better plans and gifts!
