Week 81 Bible Reading: Genesis 3:1–9
No More Hiding
The Lord God called . . . “Where are you?” Genesis 3:9 (NIV)
When you were a little, did you ever disobey your parents—then run and hide?
That’s exactly what Adam and Eve did after they ate the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden. They felt guilty. Instead of facing God, they ran, hiding behind some trees.
“Where are you?” God called out to them (Genesis 3:9 NIV). As any friend would, God was trying to make things right with them again.
Just like Adam and Eve, sometimes we try to hide from God when we mess up, afraid God would stop loving us if He really knew what we had done.
God’s love for us doesn’t change. No matter if we’re good or bad, performing the best or failing at everything, on the top or at the bottom. The fact is: we’re His kids, and there’s absolutely nothing that can separate us from His love.
Have you messed up? Don’t hide. Go talk to Jesus. He’ll be there, waiting for you—ready to show you just how much He loves you.
Jesus, whenever I feel embarrassed, sad, or ashamed, help me run to You instead of running away from You. Because no matter what, You will always love me.
