Week 78 Bible Reading: Psalm 34:17–19
Back Together Again
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. - Psalm 34:18
Have you learned the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty? It begins “Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.” Do you remember what happens next? Humpty Dumpty falls off the wall, breaking into many pieces. At the end of the rhyme, no one can “put Humpty Dumpty together again.”
Sometimes we can feel a lot like Humpty Dumpty. Our hearts can be broken into many pieces from unkind words, being excluded, maybe even our own unwise choices. The Bible says that Jesus “is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed” (Psalm 34:18). Jesus is a great Healer, and He is the One who can heal all our hurts and brokenness.
Whenever you’re feeling sad or lonely or confused, you can talk to Jesus. He loves listening to you. Sometimes He might help you think of someone to talk to about your problems. Or he might bring something happy into your day.
Watch for how He’s going to “put you together again”!
Jesus, thank You for being with me when I am sad, angry, or alone. I know that when my heart aches, Your heart breaks too.
