Week 77 Bible Reading: Proverbs 3:5–8
Warning: Lacking Common Sense
For the Lord gives wisdom. - Proverbs 2:6 (NIV)
Do we have what’s called common sense? If you read warnings on products, you have to wonder. Here are two crazy examples.
On a hair dryer: Never use while sleeping. (If this sounds impossible to you, know it actually happened, and the person’s bed caught on fire!)
On a washing machine: Do not put any person in this washer. (A college student jumped into the washer.)
The Bible has a book all about common sense (and if these warnings show us anything, it’s that common sense is not so common!). The book of Proverbs shares tiny, bite-sized pieces of advice called proverbs.
Read these two amazing proverbs about friendship:
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” (27:17). (We need each other to be the best we can be!)
“Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy” (27:6). (True friends are honest; enemies aren’t.)

Jesus, thanks for giving us an entire book about wisdom. Whatever choices I face today, help me choose wisely.
