Make A Joyful Shout
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. - Psalm 100:1
Duke University’s basketball fans are known as “Cameron Crazies.” When Duke plays archrival North Carolina at the Cameron Indoor Arena, the Crazies are given these instructions: “This is the game you’ve been waiting for. No excuses. Give everything you’ve got.” Clearly, Duke fans take allegiance seriously. They are loud! And crazy!
The writer of Psalm 100 took his loyalty to God seriously, and he wanted others to do the same. “Shout for joy to the Lord,” he exclaimed (v. 1). His people were to freely express their praise to Him. They were to focus all their energies on Him and His goodness.
How are we supposed to express our love for God? Lots of ways. One is to pray to Him and tell Him thanks. Another is to listen to songs that praise Him. A third way is to do things for others in Jesus’s name—like helping people or being kind to kids others might ignore.
The Crazies are not ashamed of letting everyone know they love their Duke Blue Devils. Don’t be ashamed of finding ways to tell God thank you for being so great!
