Week 73 Bible Reading: 1 John 5:11–13
Believing God's Promises
God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life. - 1 John 5:11–12 (NIV)
Will I really go to heaven? is a question we may ask ourselves.
If you’ve ever wondered about this, listen in to this true story. One day, two-year-old William went missing. His parents searched for him everywhere. You can imagine how joyful they were to find their toddler playing in a neighbor’s backyard.
Afterward, William’s mom began telling everyone the story of searching for William, and the toddler got confused.
“Mommy!” he cried. “Did you ever find me?”
“Of course, William!” she said, surprised and touched by his fear. She took him in her arms.
“See, you’re with us now, and we’ll make sure you always are.” That calmed William because he believed her promise.
Just as William’s mom promised him that he was safely home, the Bible promises that whoever believes in Jesus has a forever home with Him (1 John 5:13). Because the Bible is God’s Word, we can trust its promises are true.
So, if you have a relationship with Jesus, you’ve got a heavenly home to look forward to!
Jesus, thanks for promising to prepare a place for me in heaven. It’s comforting to know that I have a forever home with You.
