Week 67 Bible Reading: Luke 2:1–20

Being Famous

Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. - Philippians 2:6 (MSG)

Many of us want to be famous. The most famous person of all time? According to Time magazine, it’s Jesus.

Jesus didn’t seek fame though. Just look at the way He came to Earth: Born in a room full of smelly animals, He was laid in an animal trough. And no one but the stinky shepherds welcomed Him.

Growing up, His goal wasn’t to become a celebrity. During His whole life, Jesus stayed focused on His big purpose—to follow whatever His Father told him to do. (In His Father’s eyes, He was already famous.)

You may find that everyone around you is obsessed with becoming famous. Or following famous people. Flip the rules. Follow Jesus’s example instead: stay focused on listening and obeying whatever your Father in heaven says.

And know that you’re already famous in the eyes of the King of the universe.

Why didn’t Jesus care about becoming famous?
Jesus, while it’s fun to follow celebrities, help me not to forget that living in Your kingdom—following Your amazing plans—is way more exciting than being famous.
