In Australia, a man was boarding a train when he slipped—and his leg got stuck in the space between the platform and the train! Coming together, the other passengers pushed the train away from the platform. The trapped man was freed! Now that’s people power.

People power is God’s plan for building up His family too. In the church, everybody has a job to do. We’re each given spiritual gifts—gifts like teaching, truth-telling, encouraging, and more—to cheer on God’s family. (Check out the many different spiritual gifts in today’s Bible reading!) No one in God’s family can sit on the sidelines, just watching the action. We need each other.

Ask Jesus to show you your special job in encouraging God’s family.

Jesus, thanks for giving each of us a big role in building up Your family. Show me the gifts You’ve given me to build up— and cheer on—Your family.
