Week 56 Bible Reading: Genesis 8:1–12

Waiting Is Tough!

God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock with him in the boat. - Genesis 8:1

Imagine your teacher just announced that you’re taking a field trip. Maybe it’s to a big city or your favorite aquarium or zoo. You can’t wait to travel on a bus with your friends to start your adventure. But it’s still a month away. That feels like forever.

Waiting is not easy.

In the Bible story of Noah’s ark, Noah and his family were stuck on the ark for more than a year. That is a long time on a ship. Especially with smelly animals (and stinky people too).

Maybe during that year, they asked, “Has God forgotten about us? Are we lost out here?”

But God cared for them so much that He wanted everything to be just right when they left the ark.

First God sent a mighty wind to push back the water. Then the ark rested on a mountain. Soon after, Noah sent out a dove, and it didn’t come back, because it had found dry land.

Finally, God said it was time to leave the ark. God knew what He was doing. Sometimes God calls us to wait.

Waiting is tough! When have you had to wait for something?
Jesus, waiting isn’t easy for me. When I’m waiting for something, please help me to be patient!
