God's Galaxies
When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? - Psalm 8:3–4
On a clear night, imagine stepping outside and looking up. The sky is dazzling—stars like jewels light up the night! Gazing at the galaxies, you feel in awe.
On a starlit night just like this, King David looked up too. Amazed, David—a musician as well as a king—wrote this song: “When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?” (Psalm 8:3–4).
When we imagine the cosmic scale of the universe, our problems can seem small. Yet God doesn’t think so! Even though God takes care of all the galaxies, He thinks about us too! Not only are we on His mind, but He also cares for us.
King David once wrote that the galaxies and stars shout out just how amazing our God is (Psalm 19:1). Let’s join with the stars—and all of creation—in worshiping our awesome God.
