You can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. - Mark 11:24

At youth group, the middle school girls piled on the comfy couches for prayer. Julie opened her mouth to pray but nothing came out! In her heart, she felt nudged to ask for the basketball hoop the youth group wanted.

Does God really answer prayers like that? she thought to herself. Finally, she blurted out, “God, can someone . . . er . . . buy that basketball hoop for us? . . . Yeah, thanks,” she finished awkwardly, embarrassed.

That night, the youth group got a call: a family wanted to donate a brand-new basketball hoop for the entire youth group!

As He did for Julie, God loves to show us what to pray. So, quiet yourself and listen. God can put a person, a situation, or even something as random as a basketball hoop on your heart or mind to pray about. Whatever God has placed on your heart, no matter how crazy, pray about it. However God responds—with a “yes,” “no,” or “not now”—you can be sure that God is listening.
