The Trail Of Tears
A tragic event in US history was the forced move of thousands of Native Americans in the nineteenth century. Their tribes were driven out of lands they had lived on for hundreds of years.
In the winter of 1838, thousands of Cherokee were forced to take a brutal 1,000-mile march known as the Trail of Tears to a new home in Oklahoma. This resulted in the deaths of thousands of people.
There’s still a lot of pain and heartache in our world. Bad things happen to families, and sometimes a family member dies. Our Lord sees our tears and comforts our sad hearts (2 Corinthians 1:3–5). He also tells us about a future time when there won’t be any sin or injustice anymore. In heaven, “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death” (Revelation 21:4 NKJV).
God not only offers freedom from tears in the future but He also can help us through our troubles now.
