Mirror, Mirror
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. - Psalm 139:1–2 (NIV)
If you lived hundreds of years ago, you wouldn’t have known what you looked like because mirrors weren’t around. Until recently, you could only see your reflection in rivers, streams, and puddles. How crazy.
Imagine living without a mirror: you’d go to school wondering if your hair was sticking straight up, your ponytail was messy, or your eyes puffy. Yikes. Before we go out the front door, it’s helpful to be able to inspect ourselves.
What if we had a mirror to check out our hearts too? Try it. Before you go to bed each night, put a “mirror” up by asking yourself this question: Do I feel good about my choices today?
Whatever your answer—whether you made some spectacular choices or spectacularly poor ones—talk to God about what you find. Nothing surprises Him. As your Creator, He already knows everything inside your heart and is your biggest fan, no matter what.
