Never Alone
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” - Hebrews 13:5
Many people who have played soccer have a lifelong love for “The Beautiful Game.” One of the top leagues is the English Premier League—where the skill and speed with which the game is played is high- level. One of the cool things fans of some of those teams do is that they sing in support of their beloved “sides.” For instance, Liverpool has for years had “You’ll Never Walk Alone” as its theme. It’s pretty moving to hear 50,000 fans rise as one to sing that old standard! It’s an encouragement to players and fans alike that they will see each other through to the end. Walk alone? Never.
Even at your age, you don’t like to go it alone. You need your buddies to talk to and do stuff with. It can be lonely if nobody’s around to hang out with. Remember the Coronavirus quarantine?
But here’s something to think about: As a Christian, you never need to fear abandonment. God has told us, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). That’s even better than the Liverpool song! It is the promise of God himself to those who are the objects of His love. He is there—and He isn’t going away.
With Christ by your side, you will never walk alone.
