Day 3 Bible Reading: Psalm 20:6-9
Is That All?
Someone I know has to always have the latest iPhone. It doesn’t matter what the cost is—having the newest, coolest smartphone is his ‘thing’. He told me recently that these iPhones were his “passion” and “reason to save” any money he gets.
I understand his need for the best iPhone. I use mine all the time. And I always get a little jealous when I see his! But a smartphone, like everything else in this world, isn’t worth living for. Those who trust in things rather than God “are brought to their knees and fall” (PS. 20:8).
That’s because we were made for God, and nothing else will do—a truth we can see in every day. We buy this or that because we think these things will make us happy, but after a while we end up asking ourselves, “Is that all?” Something is always missing.
Nothing this world can offer us—even the latest smartphones—will fully meet all our needs. There’s plenty to enjoy, but our happiness soon fades away (1 JOHN 2:17). One Christian writer summed it up with: “God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from Himself. There is no such thing.”

To Pray About . . .
Lord, You are the One I worship. Help me fix my eyes on You and find full satisfaction in You. Because truly, there's nothing else like You, who gives me water that springs up into eternal life.
