The Turquoise Mug
At summer camp, Hannah created a beautiful clay turquoise mug, one with a lovely golden handle. She couldn’t wait to show it off to her parents. Seeing her dad at parent pickup, she began sprinting, mug in hand. Can you guess what happened? In Hannah’s excitement, the mug slipped and—crack!—split into two pieces.
That wasn’t the end of the turquoise mug, though. Today, it sits on the kitchen counter, on display. If you inspect the mug closely, though, you’ll see its “scar.” The place Hannah and her dad glued it back together.
Like Hannah’s pieced-together mug, we can accumulate scars too. Scars mark our hurts, the places we’ve been rejected, overlooked, or disappointed. But they can also tell us a beautiful story: God’s love and power to heal us!
Scars aren’t something to hide. In fact, they can be the greatest proof of God’s healing love and power!
