Faith In Action
Katie spent an entire summer break holding babies. Hundreds of tiny, precious babies! The babies at the orphanage where Katie volunteered had food to eat, clothes to wear, and a roof over their heads—but not enough staff to hold them all. Just as much as they need food or shelter, babies need love. That summer, Katie gave them plenty.
By loving on those babies, Katie was putting her faith in action. The Bible says, “Faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless” (James 2:17). That means we can’t just read the Bible: We have to live it out! We shouldn’t only memorize Jesus’s words about loving others. We’re called to love and serve too!
In fact, we have amazing opportunities to live out our faith right where we are—in our homes, neighborhoods, and schools. Whether that means putting together a Christmas care package for needy kids in our community, or raking the leaves in our neighbor’s yard, we can put our faith in action, each and every day.
So, what are you waiting for? Go out and serve!
Jesus, help me put my faith into action. Show me all the ways I can go out and serve in my home, school, and community this week.
