Don't Give Up
When his airplane lost power, Pilot “Sully” Sullenberger had only minutes to save the 150 people on board his plane. Most of us would have panicked. Sully, though, had more than 20,000 hours of flying practice, which amounts to 833 days—or more than 2 years—of training. That’s a lot of time in the air! With all that practice, he was able to think quickly and land on New York’s Hudson River, rescuing every person on that plane. What a hero!
God is proud when we practice with all our might. We may not save lives like Sully, but each time we practice a sport or an instrument, or do a chore or our homework, God is growing our character: He’s helping us get tough! When the time is right, our new superpower strength from practice will “reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up” (Galatians 6:9).
What do you have to practice today? A sport? Your homework? An art project? Even if your responsibility is boring or tough, stick with it. You’ll grow good fruit if you don’t give up!
Jesus, help me practice with all my might. Give me an attitude that doesn’t give up—even when life is tough! Thanks for giving me a courageous heart.
