Called To Be Courageous
In her bedroom was a secret room—a fake wall opening up to a small compartment. Inside it, up to six people could hide. During the Holocaust, Corrie ten Boom and her family saved eight hundred Jews and other refugees, hiding them in that small room and in safe homes across Europe.
Corrie ten Boom risked her life to do the right thing. For her brave actions, the Nazis sent her to a concentration camp. Even in one of the darkest places, God shined brightly in Corrie ten Boom, because of her, many of the prisoners started a relationship with Jesus inside the camp. When released, ten Boom shared her story of faith and courage around the world.
As was true for Corrie ten Boom, Christ-followers around the world face persecution for living out their faith today, especially in the places where following Jesus is against the law. The Bible says, “God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs” (Matthew 5:10).
Let’s pray for our brothers and sisters facing persecution. And may we always be ready to stand up for others, just like Corrie ten Boom.
Jesus, watch over the people all around the world risking their lives to follow You, especially those living in countries where sharing Your story is against the law! Help them be bold in sharing Your love, even in the hardest places.
