Week 82 Bible Reading: Philippians 3:12–21

Press On

I’ve got my eye on the goal . . . Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. - Philippians 3:14 MSG

The Amazing Race has been a popular TV program for many years. In this show, ten couples use trains, planes, buses, cabs, bikes, and their feet to get to the next clue. The goal is for one couple to get to the finish line first.

The prize? A million dollars.

In the Bible, the writer of the book of Philippians—Paul—said the Christian life is like a race, and he said he wasn’t at the finish line yet. Here is how Paul explained it: “I’ve got my eye on the goal . . . Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back” (3:14 MSG). Paul did not let his mistakes slow him down. He kept trying to be more and more like Jesus.

We’re running this race too. We’re off and running! The prize is a lot better than a million dollars. What is it? Enjoying Jesus forever!

Fun Fact

During The Amazing Race, team members cannot be farther than twenty feet from each other.

Just You and God

“What can I do to be more like you, Jesus? Maybe there is a person who imitates you that I can follow. Can you help me find someone like that?”
